Mr. David Steussie was a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) Instructor until he retired as a Sergeant of Police from the Los Angeles Police Department In September 2024. Mr. Steussie has 26 years of law enforcement experience and has been a DRE since 2009.

Mr. Steussie is a court qualified expert as a DRE for public intoxication and driving while under the influence of drugs. Mr. Steussie has been involved in hundreds of narcotics related arrests and has testified as a narcotics expert in court. Mr. Steussie has conducted over 1000 investigations for drug and alcohol impairment and has presented over 1000 hours of instruction in the Impaired Driver Apprehension Program (IDAP), Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE), and the Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) programs.

Mr. Steussie’s mission is to provide an accurate assessment of objective symptoms of impairment, circumstances, and facts to clients, to enable them to make informed decisions about their case.
