Introduction

Douglas S. Hart is a recognized expert in violent crimes, having personally investigated and managed several high-profile cases, including homicides, multiple-homicides, abductions, and other related offenses. He has also investigated countless sex crimes and violent assaults. Mr. Hart was appointed to Chief Deputy at Canyon County Idaho Sheriff’s Office in October 2022.

Mr. Hart has a distinguished 27-year career with the FBI, where he served as the Supervisory Senior Resident Agent in Southern Idaho from 2015 to 2022. In this role, he was the Program Coordinator for Violent Incident Crimes throughout the entire Salt Lake City Division, earning several Exceptional Performance awards. From 2008 to 2015, Mr. Hart oversaw numerous large-scale, multi-defendant investigations into criminal gang and drug trafficking organizations as the Task Force Coordinator for the Treasure Valley Metro Violent Crime Task Force. He also served assignments on the Nez Perce Indian Reservation and the Honolulu Organized Crime Drug Squad before becoming Task Force Coordinator in 2008.

Mr. Hart is a Certified Threat Manager and has investigated and mitigated hundreds of threats of violence. He has responded to three active-shooter events in both investigative and command capacities. He was also the State of Idaho Coordinator with the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit for over 10 years.

Mr. Hart has been a Forensic Expert with Park Dietz & Associates since 2022.
