John C. Mansfield
John Mansfield is an Automotive Engineer with 30 years of professional experience in vehicle and system design, vehicle assembly, quality control, component manufacturing, service engineering, and failure analysis. As an expert at Robson Forensic, John applies his expertise in vehicle engineering and driver actions to support his investigations and crash reconstructions. He has received training in Crash Reconstruction through Northwestern University.
John’s comprehensive understanding and experience of motor vehicle design, development, and testing, and the ways in which components influence vehicle performance inform his approach to forensic casework.
After starting his career in Quality and Service Engineering at BMW of North America, John then worked as a Service Engineer for DENSO, providing support to OEMs for components and systems including engine management, emission, rotating electrical, and satellite navigation. He returned to BMW as a Senior Product Development Engineer for Navigation Systems, and later as a Project/Launch Manager responsible for BMW’s electric vehicle field trial programs and preparations for new model introductions. John also worked at Mercedes-Benz USA as a Service Engineer where he was responsible for steering and suspension systems.
John holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering Technology from SUNY Institute of Technology at Utica/Rome, and an A.A.S. in Automotive Engineering Technology from SUNY College of Technology at Farmingdale. John holds Driver Certifications A & B from the BMW Performance Center. He is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
