Introduction

Dr. Pumerantz has regularly taught ammunition manufacturing processes and toolmark identification to law enforcement agencies, including DOJ, LAPD, and LASO since 2008. His students continue to use the information from his courses in courtrooms across the country.

His background in firearm identification, toolmark examination, internal and external ballistics, and proper firearm handling were enhanced by his time as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff and a total of 18 years of service with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, with 16 of those years as an assistant armorer, firearms instructor, and range safety officer.

With his previous background in higher education, Dr. Pumerantz is an outstanding analyst and report writer. His ability to effectively communicate knowledge to a group comes from his many years of teaching and public speaking. He is judicially accepted as an expert to testify in the areas of ammunition, firearms, and shooting incident reconstruction.
