
Timothy D. Berringer, P.E.
Timothy Berringer, P.E., is an electrical engineer and electric utility expert with 30+ years of professional experience, including electrical utility experience in the design, inspection, and management of overhead and underground distribution and transmission systems.
Tim has performed root cause investigations, addressed incidents associated with safety programs and procedures, electrical explosions, arc flashes, shock hazards, lighting adequacies, and natural gas explosions. He is experienced with implementing the hierarchy of controls to properly safeguard workers from hazards, and he is knowledgeable about National Electrical Code standards and Localized Code standards such as California’s General Order (GO) 95 and 128.
Tim was instrumental in developing robust safety programs which included physical plant assessments and vegetation management. The safety programs he developed covered areas from generation, transmission, substations, overhead and underground primary and secondary distribution, and internal building wiring covered by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70, also known as the National Electrical Code.
Tim earned his Associate of Applied Science degree in Electronics and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis in Power from Iowa State University. Tim is licensed as a Professional Engineer in multiple states.
