Nancy is a Registered Nurse with 40 years experience in neonatal intensive care (NICU) nursing in large level III & IV county and academic institutions. She has decades of experience in attending high-risk deliveries, resuscitation and stabilization. She has extensive knowledge and expertise in caring for infants with various diagnoses including Hypoxic-ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE), Cerebral Palsy (CP), Necrotizing Entercolitis (NEC), Intraventricular Hemmorhage (IVH), Gastrointestional Birth Defects, Cardiac Defects, Genetic Abnormalities and other neonatal disorders.
She is highly trained in advanced modes of ventilation, Total Body Cooling, chest tubes, Inhaled Nitric Oxide (iNO), central lines, nutritional access, Amplitude-Intergrated Electroencephalography (aEEG) and neonatal transport.
She holds current certifications in BCLS and NRP. Nancy is a member of many professional organizations related to neonatal nursing and has current, relevant knowledge of neonatal standards of care.
Nurse Nielsen has unique ability to interpret complex issues and data into easily understandable terms. She is adept in problem-solving and conveying critical information. She can assist in putting the pieces of complex medical cases together, bridging the gap between legal and medical professionals. She can provide valuable insight on nursing standards and possesses the necessary skills to assist in malpractice cases involving this fragile patient population.
